Graduate Apprenticeship at Edinburgh Napier

Location: South Queensferry and day release to Edinburgh Napier University

Join our paid, full-time graduate apprenticeship scheme for aspiring software developers

Now you can work in paid employment within our elite tech teams whilst studying for a BSc (Hons) degree in Software Development from Edinburgh Napier University - starting summer 2018!

Who are we?

We’re a thriving, friendly and world-leading software company creating specialist, enterprise-level business solutions built on the Microsoft technology stack. We work with the largest law firms in the world and critical emergency service organisations, helping them reduce risk and increase efficiency. And we’re also a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner – so at the top of our game!

What will you do?

As a full-time software dev GA, you'll spend time gaining knowledge across technical areas of the business, including support, testing, quality and development - so you build up a complete understanding of the software development life-cycle and what our products do in detail.

As you gain practical experience, you'll work towards Microsoft professional qualifications and use Pluralsight e-learning tools, enjoy brown bag lunch presentations and be mentored by some of the best tech brains in the business.

You'll also attend university on day release to study similar subjects to those completing a traditional software engineering undergrad degree, with your course delivered as a mix of classroom and workplace-based training and assessment. And you'll achieve the very same level of qualification over a four-year period - but move forward with a valuable range of additional commercial skills!

Once you've completed your course, you'll also have the opportunity to join one of our development or tech teams on a permanent contract, based on your particular skills and aptitudes.

What's more...your efforts and ideas will really matter to us. You'll do a job that really matters to you. We'll reward you with varied, interesting and exciting work - and the opportunity to make your mark on our products, and even the world!

We're only looking for very high-quality candidates who are eligible to attain entry to leading universities, but recognise the benefits of taking this alternative route, which offers a combination of higher education, workplace learning and paid full-time employment.

You must currently be resident in Scotland to be eligible, have achieved at a single sitting a minimum of 4 B grades at ‘Higher’, or 3 B grades at ‘A’ Level – including maths  and have excellent written and spoken English. Successful candidates do typically exceed these minimum standards.

Ideally, you will currently be in, or have just completed, your 6th year, or may recently have started a relevant university course but decided to switch to this new approach to complete your studies.

Nice to have

Advanced Highers in technical subjects, work experience or volunteering roles.

You'll receive a competitive salary, pension and benefits package*. We'll invest in your personal development, offer a secure pathway to long-term success, and help you develop in-demand skills and experience across the full Microsoft technology stack - within a professional software manufacturing environment.

We're also a lovely, friendly bunch, happily settled within a team-driven environment, who organise regular social activities and staff nights out. You'll work in a modern office space with great car, rail and bus links, there's free parking, bike racks onsite, a cycle-to-work scheme and lots of nearby amenities. But, as you'd expect, we can only hire the best - because we need to be the best at what we do to maintain our market-leading position, and keep moving forward.
