INFOGRAPHICS was proud to be the headline sponsor for this year’s prestigious ‘Spirit of Fire’ Awards, and to be among a small group of VIP guests invited to attend a reception at Downing Street.
The Spirit of Fire Awards, which took place on November 4, honours members of the Fire and Rescue Service and the public by recognising bravery within the fire community, and/or dedication to The Fire Fighters Charity.
The Right Honourable Eric Pickles MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, was just one of the VIPs to toast the UK’s Fire and Rescue Services on Friday 4th November at a special Downing Street Reception, prior to award nominees and attendees heading off to The East Wintergarden in London’s Canary Wharf for a star-studded ceremony.
The event was attended by, among other celebrities, TV presenters Fern Britton, Tommy Walsh, Esther Ranson and Jacqui Haines, Eastenders actresses Cheryl Fergison and Linda Henry, and newsreader Nicholas Owen.
Russell Wood, Director of Sales at Infographics, this year presented the Fire Fighter of the Year Award to Fire Fighter Mike Barton of Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service (see pic). Mike, based at Barrow, was one of the first on the scene of the tragic Keswick coach crash which left three people dead and many more seriously injured. He faced one of the most harrowing scenes of his life when the coach carrying school children crashed into a car.

The Fire Fighters Charity, the organiser of the event, is the UK’s
leading provider of services that enhance quality of life for
serving and retired fire service personnel and their families during
times of need, assisting thousands of individuals every year by
providing pioneering treatment and support services. The charity is
completely reliant upon donations from the general public and fire
community. The Spirit of Fire Awards, now in its 7th
year, is an annual event that forms a key element within a wider
range of fundraising activities undertaken by the charity.
